On the way to Erfurt we stopped to see the Cathedral in Naumburg where Luther preached and also where he ordained the first bishop of the Lutheran Church.
We visited St Wenzels Church where they have the worlds' largest pipe organ with 3284 pipes.
Today we had an excursion to Eisleben, the town of Luther’s birth and death. We saw the house where he was born in 1483 (he was 9 years old when Columbus discovered America) and where he died in 1546. We actually saw 2 houses that are a possibility since they both fit the description from various writings.
Our next stop was St. Anne’s Church which contains beautiful stone cut Biblical scenes.
It was such a full day we had brats cooked on the bus. Hoddie has a nice little kitchen setup.
We then visited St Peter & Paul Lutheran Church where Luther was baptized
We also visited St. Andrews Church where Luther preached his last sermon and the Luther monument
Tonight we checked in to ll stay in the Augustinian Monastery for the first of three nights.
